I start by using a degreaser then soap and water. Once they are totally clean hit them with some denatured alcohol to make sure no residue is left tape off the tires and spray.

I've done this on several wheels on other vehicles, some folks claim you have to scuff the surface but they are full of it. It sticks and sticks well to the rim. Do keep in mind some small details on the rim get lost and once it starts to peel it is time to redo the process

Also once you dip the rims and you have to change a tires you will have to redo that rim again because it will peel from the tire change.

It's the cheapest way to change the color of your rims. Go for it, it will peel off if you don't like it. When you go to a car wash just to let them scrub the rims to hard with the brush.

Dip

Go for it man. I dipped the wheels on my A4(Daily driver) The stuff works great and looks pretty good too for the price you pay. It also will conceal some curb rash too. Kinda works as a filler you would say in certain areas. 2 of my wheels were pretty bad when I bought the car. I never really worried about it too much. I just noticed that rash was a little less noticeable after the dip. And like KLR said "if you don't like it...just peel it off" Cheap way to change the look of your car for a while. Give her a shot

when you sparay it on - do not do what you would do with regular spray paint (light coats) its counter intuitive - but you want to blast it on 4-5 thick, I mean thick coats - this goves you a matte finish. If you do thin coats - its gets a bit pebbled, too flat and looks like cr**p.

Plasti-dip was all over my E46 and its the best thing to use for the rims, especially if you've always wanted to go Black on Black but didnt wanna pay thousands for new wheels.

Uhhh....Hmmm. I think a silvery-gray would have gone better with the black car. Black wheels just sort of wash out. I was just in my local Pep Boys store today and some kid was all upset because they were all out of black Plastidip for his Honda wheels. I thought he was going to cry. It's funny how everyone thinks the black wheel look is so new. NASCAR has been doing it for forty years.

Didn't know gunmetal was a plastic dip color. I just might do mine in that color, I like the gun metal look..

Personally, I prefer the contrast between the body and the wheels. You've done a great job on the paint job. Overall, the car looks different.
