96 Z3 Foglight lens - replace lens? or whole assembly?

Greetings - new to forum. Saw similar questions, but did not find answer I wanted, so here goes again:

Rock cracked driver side fog light lens - light works fine, but cracks are annoying me. Does not look like one can just simply replace the lens cover - so gotta replace entire assembly, right?

Recommendations? OEM assembly or can anyone recommend a decent (and not as expensive) replacement part /website or a used part? Have checked main aftermarket sites and read reviews of some replacement parts that were not kind...any specific provider you could recommend?

Thanks!

I replaced my lights just because the tabs cracked over time. I got a set off ebay, they work well, are nice and clear compared to my old units.

Yes, the unit needs to be replaced not just the glass lenses.

But I don't know if that fog light will fit a 1996-1997 Z3. According to the ad, it fits Z3s from 1999-on.
These fog lights are listed for the early Z3, and look longer:

Check out ETC Tuning for Fog Light Lens Set - Fluted. The set is not clear, but if you only want the cover and not the entire assembly unit.

The Z3 shares the same foglights with the E39 5ers. The 96/97 lights where clear while the 98+ lights had a texture in the glass to direct the light more evenly. They where all the same size

I bought the lens only from ECS Tuning for $24.95. Use a heat gun and a small screwdriver to remove the old lens and then secure the new one with clear RTV.
Took me about 30 minutes to do both lenses, was easy enough for my teenager to do most of the work himself.
