Final update. My car left Oxnard on Thursday, 3/27 and arrived in the SF Bay Area on Sunday evening. Took delivery yesterday. Nice car!

Hope this info helps others estimate deliveries. BMW's info got better closer to delivery, but the early dates didn't mean much at all.

i must have the worst luck! apparently my car is suppose to be at the dealership already. the 800 number, the bmw website, and my dealers computer says the car is at the dealer. apparently, it was a mistake and not on the truck from oxnard. the dealer told me today it should be there by saturday...lets see i guess.

it finally came, but again, i have the bad luck with me....there is a big nick a size of a pea on the passenger rear fender. the dealer said they would order me a new piece and have it replace and not repaired. should i be worried the paint wont match? the car is in mineral white which is beautiful might i say. but that little nick really sucks.

Really sorry to hear that. Since they are replacing the piece I wouldn't be concerned, it should be fine.

Enjoy your new X.

Wow....they really did a bang up job on quality check. I would complain but, that doesnt get you anywhere.....Nonetheless, if you like the car and you have no other problem....I would go with it.

yes i know complaining wouldnt get me anywhere. I already got $500 over invoice, buy rate, and no mark up on acq fee. i am turning in my 2011 535i early with the pull ahead program. hopefully they dont give me a hard time about the little things.

i was locked into the feb rates and incentives but they are saying that the drive event could not be locked...can anyone confirm they got the drive credit recently?

Yes, I ordered mine in February and took delivery yesterday. I received the $500 Drive Credit.

I picked up my car yesterday and i drove directly to the city and just got home now. all i can say is I LOVE THE CAR!! it drives so much better than my last two e70 by far. the new tech inside is amazing and i know there is so much that i still need to discover. i will say this though, i dont know if i got a better deal than i thought originally bc my original msrp was $75,750 with the 20' Y wheels (this is the config when ordered in jan/feb) But when i picked up the car, the sticker had an MSRP of $76,700. My deal was $500 over invoice and with the drive credit the price of the car dropped to invoice at $70,145. If i did my research correctly this was the invoice of the car that is $75750. This was also the number given to me in the beginning, but when they did the paper work for the lease, they used the MSRP of $76,700 so my payment dropped $30 each month . I was happy!! after i came home i did the calculations over and notice they did charge me $824 for acq..why the odd number? but oh well, they took my old lease that didnt have the rft tires as suppose to and didnt nit pick about the scratches and all.

But i do want to say thanks for all of you on here that have helped so much in the process. I love this forum as it helps me with all my leases. Thank YOU a Million times!!

Hey, Thanks! Hope you do the same. Still trying out the car as I have not driven it much yet. Trying to keep the car as clean as I can. Don't know when someone gonna go and ruin it while I park.

In addition to the 1-800 #, is there another way to track the car once it is released to the carrier?

Your CA has more detailed and up-to-date information.

Released to carrier!

Here's my timeline so far:

4/5 - ordered car at dealership
4/19 - dealer received allocation and production number assigned
4/22 - production started with estimated completion date of 5/1
4/29 - in paint shop, est completion date moved to 4/30
4/30 - being assembled, finishing touches, completed
5/1 - released to carrier, awaiting transport

Now I sit and only hope that it takes less time to get here than it did to build the damn thing. I'm in New York so hoping it gets here sooner. I will update as I know more, but if anyone has any guesses for arrival at dealership...feel free...though this stage seems to be a wild card and anywhere from 7 days to 3+ weeks!!! It's like waiting for Christmas, but you don't know when Christmas really is!

Finished production

Here's my timeline with my car:

2014 x5 50i
Black Sapphire, Luxury line, Lighting package, Executive package, HK stereo, Ivory/black interior, 20" Y wheels

Ordered March 21st
Into production April 11th
Finished production April 16th
Finished inspection at some point

Has not been handed to carrier but has been sitting in limbo for several days now. Any idea why it would take so long to go from finished with inspection to handing to carrier? CRFIV had his produced later than mine and his is further ahead - how does that work out??

Expect 7-8 weeks from start to finish (delivered to the dealer) mine took this long. Primarily because it sits at the factory after production for 2 weeks before it is being delivered. also, mine took the longest because I live in the NW so, that is basically the last destination route in US. Also get in contact with your CA. They always have the most updated info. The web tracking is useless so does the customer service tracking. The shipping logistic in BMW is probably a kinder gardener...

Even if I live in the same state they are built (SC)? I'm just so confused why it takes greater than or equal to 2 weeks to go from end of production to a carrier. I'm also confused how my car has yet to be "handed to carrier" but other cars built a week later are leap frogging mine.

Living in the same state, I would imagine it would just hop on a truck and be here the same day or next no?

I believe you could pick it up yourself.....By using the performance delivery or something like that offered by the Chaleston BMW plan...

Anyone know if this is true? I think I remember asking them about this at the beginning of the purchase process and the CA acted like for me to take delivery up there is months booked out.

I hear you - it doesn't make any sense and there also doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern; some people get their cars in a few weeks others seem to wait a few months...

The person I spoke with at BMW NA via the 800 number told me that my estimated delivery date to the dealer is this Monday. I'm not holding my breath based on what I've read on this thread. Anyone know if it is noted via the 800 number when the car is actually on a truck?

Thanks

CRFIV I just called and it's finished with the production quality check, waiting to go to the vehicle production center where it can be shipped. Anyone know is this particular transition from inspection to VPC takes a day or weeks?
