I'm a big fan of the E9 BMW's, always loved the body styling. These are usually the cars I gravitate toward at Bimmerfest. I make it a point to try to check out every one and try to get pics. Imagine my excitement, when I found out that there is concept that pays homage to the 1968 BMW E9, the BMW CS Vintage Concept.

The CS Vintage Concept was created by David Obendorfer and is based off BMW's current 6 Series platform. His Concept utilizes many of the original cars styling cues. The front of the CS has the classic look with the slanted front shark nose and elongated kidney grilles, flanked by quad headlights. The upper body line flows like the E9 into the slanted rear, which houses a set of tail lights, definitely styled with the originals in mind. Even the roofline, while being lower, still resembles the E9s at the rear pillar. Looking inside the CS Concept, reveals a nod to the past with the four gauges and wood dash trim. The design inside is minimalist, using simple lines, while working in a hidden display for navigation and infotainment.

All in all, I think the car looks fantastic, inside and out. It would definitely be a head turner out on the street. What do you think of the CS Concept?

Looks very nice, aside from the fugly nose. I especially like the minimalist interior.

I love it. Current BMW designers could learn a thing or two from this.

I like it, but any concept that invokes the E9 body style has to be without a B pillar.
Just think, using new CRFP technology, that could easily be produced.

I don't get E9 as much as weird combination of modern dodge Challenger had a kid with a 2002.
