Oil change.

My next oil change according to my onboard service information states next oil change July 2015. I can't imagine going that long without an oil change. Should I get it serviced myself since bmw won't service since it's not due? Last oil change July 2013.
Thoughts.

How many miles do you have on the current oil? If you're still under the no cost maintenance plan, then you can have a low mileage oil change done.

I typically change my oil around 7,500 miles.

Approx 11k miles. The low mileage oil change u mentioned can I get that service upon my request. I still have the service maintenance under my warranty.

I believe that with today's technology, the oil can go 10k miles, but that's still a bit too long for me.

Yes, you can have the low mileage oil change done. You have to ask them.

IMO, most people only get 2-3 oil changes in the maintenance plan, which is a joke.

Lo mi oil changes are done at 12 months. So if it's been a year since they last changed the oil, then you're good.

FYI, BMW changed their recommended oil change frequency with 2013 turbo engine cars from 15k to 10K. Tells you something, right? If you were inclined to change your oil for frequently than BMW recommends before, you should continue to do so. I now change my oil every 5K since I changed it twice as often before. Using Redline 5W-30.
