X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

Next Gen X6 spied testing on the Nurburgring

More action from the Nürburgring! This time, it was a next gen X6 that was spied in testing around the popular German circuit. The X6 was still wearing half camo, but it looks previous gen in the middle, with some definite changes to the front as well as the rear. Going by the pics, it looks to corner pretty flat for a luxury SUV.

This next gen X6 shares its platform with the current X5, however, the new X6 will have trimmed down by as much as 200 pounds. Maybe that's why it looks good in the corners, less weight to throw around. As for power, there are two options available in the US, a turbocharged 3.0 liter straight-six that produces 300hp, and a 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 producing 445hp, both utilizing an eight-speed auto. BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive is as standard, however there is the possibility that a rear drive option will be available. A more powerful X6M model will also surely be offered, producing as much as 600 horsepower!

Check out the next X6 out for some testing laps around the Nürburgring.

Looks so similar to my '13 50i to discern much of a change. Guessing the front end will resemble the '14 x5 and the tails will be longer and wider as is the trend on the latest bimmers.

Now I think Ive outgrown it and was wondering what your opinions are on my order of a new 14' X6 35i with the M package. Is x5 diesel faster than the x6 35i? Should Ihave waited for the 15' X6. Undecided about the lose of the headroom. Thanks your opinion would help.
