Good Price on X3 & Questions

Hello,

I saw a used 2014 X3 35i with only 2,300 miles on a dealer's lot...acutually on a Dodge/Chyrsler dealer. They told me that someone traded it in for a Dodge Charger. It comes with the cold weather, premium, and technology packages. It also has park distance control, 19" alloy double spoke wheels, and roof rails in satin aluminum. The only option it is missing that I would like is rear-view camera. The exterior color is black sapphire metallic and inside itis sand beige Nevada leather. The previous owner on drove the vehicle four months & then traded it in. The MSRP was $54,075 brand new. They start the price at $47K, but I have talked them down to $42.5K. I checked on KBB and this is below the 'trade-in' value for the vehicle. The car looks in excellent condition.

1) Would you buy a BMW from a non-BMW dealer?

1) Do you think this is a fair price?

2) I am a little leary of the run-flat tires. Would I still be able to buy a warrenty for the tires?

3) The car was oringinally titled in December 2013. So does that mean my warrenty with BMW will be good until December 2017 or 50K miles. Which ever is first?

4) How much is regular maintanence (oil change, ie) after the 50K warrenty is up?

This would be my first BMW. I currently own a Infiniti.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

BG

Just keep in mind that this same vehicle could be purchased new for 45K.

Wow. You can get a new 35I with those options for $45K. I need to negoitate better. I have been quoted prices of $47-48K for 35Is and $43K for 28Is.

You can't get a new 2015 X3 with those options for 45K. I would check with BMW dealers to see if they have any 2014's on their lots which you can deal on. $7,000 to $9,000 off MSRP seems to be the going rate on the 14's.

Its harder to negociate on the 35i as the dealers have less of them on hand. Anytime I see a almost brand new BMW on a non-BMW lot, I get a little worry. I would get a indy mechanic to look at the car and ask for the maintenance history.

The OP asked about a slightly used 2014. Obviously, I was refering to a new 2014, which most definitley can be had for 9000 pff MSRP.
