they gave me a loaner. a 1997 740I.. My wife wants me to talk trade, I'd sooner shoot myself. Big boat poor quality and a step down from my E30. I like the AC but I hope to have that one day soon too. There has been a partial change over to the new system and they are going to put R34 freon in it to see if I can get through the summer without the costly repair to do the rest of the work.
Cant wait to drive it home on the new shocks and struts. I did find out that my drive shaft will need to be replaced but I hope that is next year.

If your drive shaft is bad enough that they think it needs replacing, it isn't going to last until next year unless you park it.

Drove home great no more float drives GREAT. Air worked they said it was empty and they put a dye in it so we can see where the leak is. The drive shaft is not that bad. it just makes a squeek like a fan motor sound at low Rpm like when starting from a light. there is no vibration just a little noise.

New shocks is always a good feeling. That squeak is a u-joint binding. It won't be long before it gets stiff then it will start to vibrate. I've been going through the same thing with mine. You probably have some time but once it starts to vibrate it's time for a new shaft. Mine feels like I'm on a rumble strip from about 35 to 50 mph then it settles down a bit. Time to park it until I get a new driveshaft. These things happen on 25 year old cars...
