Unhappy "Kissed" the side of the garage... :(

So I could blame the dog that was licking my face at the time, but the hard left that is required for me to squeeze into the tight garage ended up being harder than I thought, and I kissed the side of the garage with the corner of my bumper. A nice 12" x 14" area of scratch marks on the Deep Sea Blue Metallic is the result.

Anyway, I'm posting in hopes that there are smarter folks than I on what I could do to remedy this. I've tried using a buffing/waxing routine, but I'm afraid this is deeper then what that can fix.

Should I schedule an appointment at the dealer? Try and locate a 3rd party body repair? It's one year in on a three year lease - and part of me is thinking I should wait until nearer to lease end and get everything touched up - god forbid there are any more issues like this.

But... it's just so noticeable and I feel like I'm letting down the BMW community by driving it around like this.

If anyone is in the SF Bay Area and has a good recommendation on where to take it, I'd be very appreciative.

So sorry about your scrape. Your dealer may know of a high quality body repair shop but I would "ask around" first. We had some minor repairs on our 2011 through the dealer-recommended body shop and I'd rate them as Okay, not great. And they couldn't do minor scratch repair at all. Their only solution was to repaint the panel. My experience with this approach in the past has not been good. After a few years of sun, the repainted panel always looks different from the rest of the car. I did a web search and found a (independent) fellow who claims to fix minor scratches without repainting the panel. I intend to try him when the weather warms up a bit. Good luck!

I'm in Palo Alto, and just had a door replaced at B Line in San Jose. Perhaps I can save you some time searching, as I couldn't recommend them more highly.

I posted a thread here, with a final review at the end.

B Line specializes in BMW paint and technology, and was the third lowest of four estimates.

Thanks again for the referral. Just got the X3 back from B-Line and it's as good as new. Big thumbs up and I can't recommend these folks highly enough.

Glad I could help. B-Line is truly exceptional in many respects. The quality is outstanding and the folks treat you like family. Every BMW owner in the SF Bay area should know about B-Line.
