Cobb Accessport V3

I have a 2011 335i with XDrive and am considering buying the Cobb Accessport V3 to increase HP. Has anyone had success with the V3, can you tune on your own or go to a Cobb tuning shop?

You haven't been doing your homework....you don't need to do anything but install.

JB4 is the market leader, and can do Meth, tip-top if power's your goal. Cobb's second and comparable to JB4 non-Meth maps.

JB4 offers flexibility Cobb simply is without. Cobb offers simple install but if you change maps, stop the car....find Cobb unit....plug in....wait awhile to install new map....put Cobb away....OK, now you can drive. JB4? Don't even slow down....push a few steering wheel buttons...done.

JB4 you gotta install. That's time consuming, once. Involves taking apart under-hood panels + ECU cover; plugging in. Does NOT remap ECU like Cobb - instad capability is on chip in unit.

JB4 can be hidden from detection during service - in other words, steering wheel buttons deactivated.

Enjoy - either'll give you satisfying thrust. Meth'll give you warp speed.

I suggest you read through this rather lengthy thread over on E90Post. It will answer all of your questions.

You'll notice in the thread that you may need a DME firmware update in order to use the Cobb programming reliably, depending on your production date. Even if not, I encourage you to have your dealer update your DME in accordance with the attached service bulletin, since it remedies a number of N55 idling and throttle issues.

Cheers.
