Aftermarket wind deflector for e46 convertible?

There are these Canadian made wind deflectors. Are they any good? Is the mounting mechanism they describe the same as with OEM?

It looks a little different than the one that used to be sold at BMW dealers, but the attachment points are identical. I can't see a reason why it would not function equally.
You did not ask, but I can tell you that having the windbreaker will make a huge difference. It will make highway cruising much more pleasant and allow you to drive top down even when the temperature gets chilly.

Hey there, I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind, but there's clear acrylic windscreen over at Windblox, and they have a good review (along with others as well) over at windscreen review. At least the cool thing is, the price is a lot more friendly.

I have the OEM deflector and they do make a huge difference as FredoinSF says. Just one point, the OEM unit folds both horizontally and each panel has fold in ends. This means that if you want to dismount it and store it in the trunk, you can. It is even supplied with a storage bag. in looking at the Canadian unit I am not sure the ends fold in so if you have it mounted and want to remove it to use the rear seat, it may not fit in the trunk. Otherwise in overall size and style, it is similar to the OEM unit. I bought my OEM unit from a guy in Europe for about $400 so they are available as used items. Also, look on the "E46 Fanatics" forum. There is a section dedicated to E46 Convertibles which has a ton of useful info specific to the vert. Suggest you post your question on there. Someone may have used the Canadian unit and can give you their own user experience.

I won a used OEM on Ebay about a month ago for $290 or so? I think it was about $300 with shipping. The storage part is key because you never know when you need to store it on the fly. I am very happy with the purchase.

It makes a huge difference at highway speeds.

Hi Squiddie, I just noticed on the E46 Fanatics Forum there is a guy in Florida "trialNerror" selling an OEM deflector with case for $325. That's not a bad price! maybe give him a call!
