Without the $1,500 incentive and 2014 model change discount, 2015 is $3,000 more than 2014? (assume a deal of $1,500 over invoice)

We bought a 2015 Xdrive 28i with no moonroof, Sensatec leatherette, and no options. Had to do a factory order. Got it for out-the-door price (including TTL and all fees) for 32,124. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Howdy, just wanted to share my 2015 X1 purchase info in case it helps other shoppers:

-2015 X1 xDrive 28i with the Premium Package (moonroof etc), heated seats, light wood trim, Black Nevada leather seats, and Alpine White exterior:

$31,500 + tax and license.

I used TrueCar to see what folks near me paid and then I negotiated over email with dealers in my area. Great deal IMO.

SundayWar: I will message you to see if you can help me a bit with my research for a new X1. They are offering me a 2015 X1 for $35,395 and includes:

- Cold weather package
- Power seats
- Panoramic sunroof
- Color: Jet black

Preliminary research seems to indicate that the price above is higher than average for the kind of equipment that I would like to have.

Any help from you guys is appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Palpullero,

On one of the spec sheets I collected before moving forward with my lease had the options you've listed included, except I am not sure if your sunroof is exactly the same, I have not heard of it, but I could be wrong

The ZCW Cold weather package which includes (#248) heated front seats, (#494) heated steering wheel and (#502) retractable headlight washers, lists at $700, but the sheet I had listed a Panoramic Moon-roof (not a sunroof) (#402) for $1,250 and power seats for (#459) are $995. The Jet Black color is no cost (it's not leather).

With a $30,000 list price, your total list comes to: $35,945. The delta this dealer is quoting you at $35,395 is only $550 (I'm assuming the number you listed is without tax).

So, even if they are adding in $300-$950 for the Destination, that's still way overboard. SundayWar pulled in a very good deal, I've heard good things about True-Car, but I always lease, so I'm not sure it would help me.

I'd wait to hear from SundayWar, I have leased every BMW for the last 30 years, however, I know leases very well, I know just about every dealer will insist they have nothing to do with setting the residual % and blame it on BMW Finance crying they can do nothing about it.

That's nonsense, but some reps I have dealt with seem to really believe it so I have to assume some are not told. After the first 4 leases, it got easier, since I've been picking up the phone while at the dealer and calling BMW Finance and ask them if they mind if I put them on speaker phone.

I then ask them: Who set the residual % and each time the same answer:

"The dealer does."

I ask them to hold on a sec and ask the rep and manager if they want to argue with BMW Finance and pick up the phone and say, thank you. Take care.

You're always in a favorable position when you catch a dealer like that off the bat and you know if they are doing very well based on how high they will bring the residual percentage up and I have settled in now with one dealer who knows me and know (last 3 cars) I do 1/2 of the 30K miles they give me (they know it) and depending on business, 68-80% is the residual percentage.

Money should never be put down on a lease, unless the dealer wants to buy your last lease, and sell it as a CPO. Like putting money down on a lease, what becomes a trade-in is taxed, so discounts and the extra $1,000 at the dealer event (here in NE they do them once every 1-2 months), but also I lease for a few reasons: 1. Miles 2. Business use 3. Credit for miles not used for the next lease and a new car every 3 years and the number 1 reason, no repairs. Leases are not for everyone.

Good luck and I hope you have lot's of dealers in your area!

Dean

Ok, truecar has the following:
-jet black X1 xDrive28i
-cold weather package
-power moonroof
-power seats

MSRP: $36,940
Factory Invoice: $35,135
Average Paid: $35,086

TrueCar price (3 dealers offer this price): $33,770

That's the MAX you should pay.

What I did was email that TrueCar price to all my local dealers and then had them compete on price to go even lower. It helps if it's end of the month or end of the year (as in my case).

Good luck!
