Mein Auto:
Possible engine repair???

I just bought a 2006 M5 with 45,000 miles on it. I drove it approximately 600 miles and the oil indicator went from 0.8 to 0.3 liters. I added 0.5 liters back in. And I am now consuming oil way too fast (about 0.1 in 15 miles. Also the service engine soon light kicked on this morning stating that there was increase emissions. I'm fearing the worse. Any thoughts on what is going on would be appreciated.

Take it to the dealer immediately, a friend of mine put the increased emissions fault off for months and then started having engine malfunction errors with reduced power, ended up taking to the dealer and now has to replace the catalytic converters and oxygen sensors, the quote was $9800.00 for the repairs.

I had the increased emissions fault come on my '07 M5 and took it to the dealer immediately, after diagnostics they told me it was running too rich so they replaced the throttle valve actuator ($2200.00) and it's back to normal.

I think the manual and the car computer will tell you not to add any oil until .01 left. Mine was at .03 for a bit and when got to .01, the warning triangle lit up in the display. When I checked, it said to add 1 liter oil, now it's back to normal.
