Front Upper control arm replacement

2010 550 GT with 15k miles - dealer says it needs front upper control arms replaced??? under warranty but how do bushings wear out in 15k miles???

Who pays for alignment after warranty work on suspension? I am reasonably sure that pre-paid service excludes alignments....

thx!

False alarm....dealer called to confirm that they entered the wrong specs/model which was throwing things off. So no new upper control arms needed. I was a little annoyed that they kept my car for 3 more days (otherwise was ready for Friday pick up) and did not even cut me a break on the $350 alignment charge - that I may or may not have even needed.....

rogue, good to hear there was no control arm issue. You should have gotten a break on the alignment if nothing else for the inconvenience.

This seems to be another example of the variability of collective expertise that exists among the dealers' sevice departments. I am sometimes dismayed at how long it takes me to schedule an appointment at my dealer due to the volume of work until I realize that the volume comes from my delaers own clients (like me) and a number of clients of the other BMW dealer in town whose service reputation is not that good. At my dealer, the steady volume means more and varied experience and thus fewer errors (hopefully).

$99 alignments at our local dealer, you were wayyy overcharged. Start complaining, immediately!

are you kidding me? $99 vs $350? I know I could get an alignment outside of the dealer network for $100-150....
