BMW and Tesla discuss future of EV market

”tesla and bmw”

BMW and Tesla executive met recently to discuss how they could further promote the use of electric vehicles. With range anxiety and charging times being a big issues that deter buyers, the two automakers hope to find new ways to raise the popularity of EVs with consumers.

"Both companies are strongly committed to the success of electromobility and discussed how to further strengthen the development of electromobility on an international level," a BMW spokesman said in a statement.

German automakers have been enthusiastic about working with US carmaker. Tesla has also been discussing how to better utilize its network of German charging stations with BMW as well as Daimler. In an interview earlier this year, Diamler CEO Dieter Zetsche said that Mercedes-Benz was looking to expand its partnership with Tesla. Tesla currently supplies batteries and electric motors for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class EV and Smart ForTwo EV.

Better range, more charging stations and quicker charging times, any of these could be a big help in winning over unsure consumers. Collaborating with other automakers sounds like a good way to get these plans in motion.

I don't think BMW and Mercedes are currently that big of competitors for the tesla model S so it's great. Tesla's model is always to increase innovation with the free patents especially
"When I lay rubber down the street
I pray for traction I can keep
But if I start to slip and slide,
Dear God, protect my ride."
