Does the i3 Brake Light go on when not pressing "gas" pedal

Greetings -

I've not been able to get an answer to this question, even from the dealer.

When driving the i3, and you take your foot off the accelerator and the car begins to slow through regeneration, do the rear brake lights illuminate to warn drivers behind you that you are about to slow down?

I would consider this almost a safety issue, especially when aggressive regen slows the car rapidly.

Thank in advance for the replies.

Yes, when you take your foot off the gas the brake lights come on. As you say it is necessary due to the strong regenerative braking.

That's reassuring to know. I assume it will be the same on the i8, but I will do a test when I drive it in 3 weeks time.

Yes. I brought up the same issue when I test drove the i3 and I'm told it will light up although just the lower tail lights. When you hit the brakes all of them light up including the one up top.
