155mph limit?

Hey everyone, just a quick question, is there a way I can check and see if the limiter has been removed on my m5? The reason I'm asking, today I was cruising on the interstate and I checked my speedometer and I noticed I was going 163mph. I remember Jeremy Clarkson was driving the e60 m5 on an episode of Top Gear, and he also mentioned that the car was limited to 155, but he got it well past that before running out of runway. So I'm just curious if these early late 2005 models weren't limited or if the previous owner may have removed it.

BMW Says there's a limiter but I don't believe it, I've had mine up to 185mph on a track and there was still room for more, I just ran out of space... I've seen some videos on YouTube where people have had theirs up to 211mph..

The world limit of 155 is established for safety and emissions, but isn't strictly enforced. Many super cars don't have a governor on them. They are simply limited by the drag coefficient of the vehicle. I would be more worried about doing 163 on an interstate

Absolutely, thank you! Yeah it seems like some don't enforce this rule. I'll save 155+ for track days!

Yeah my Z4 was supposedly limited to 155 but got it up close to there with more room to go.
