X1 Seat Swap

I have had the X1 for a couple of months now and I finally went on an extended drive (3 hours) and found the seats hard and uncomfortable for long durations (been driving it back and forth to work ~30 minutes). Compared to the 5 series, there is a big difference. Only have 2,000 on the car, will these seats soften up? Has anybody ever swapped out the seats with an other option (sport seats) after taking delivery?

Jim

Pretty much standard. They came with the premium package, leatherette.

I thought the Premium package was leather. Either way I have the leatherette and agree my butt gets a little sore over the long haul but not enough to really bother. Seat contour is probably a bigger factor in long term sitting comfort than is the firmness of the seat.

The seats do not appear to get softer over time in my experience.

I really hate the seats! I have leather I have sometimes an hour commute, not comfortable and I have adjusted the seat all over the place. When I get in my Mustang, I'm like, oh this is nice! Really bothers me,

In my experience, the seats without power lumbar adjustment are less comfortable than those with. I had a loaner 328i M-Sport w/leatherette and no lumbar adjustment and the sport seats were quite uncomfortable. No such problems with a recent X3 loaner with standard leather seats w/lumbar adjust.

The 5/X5 and up have seats much nicer than the 3/X3 and below. The optional multi-countour seats are some of the best I've ever felt, I hope to be able to afford them someday.

Does anyone know if there would be a way to install BMW Comfort seats? or maybe some better option for the rear seats?

We have the sport seats in our X1. It took me about 3 hours of long distance driving to get it just right... then locked it into memory. They are really comfortable and when i get a little stiff, i just turn on the seat heat ( yes even in Florida) and it soothes your back aches away.

Now if I could get the massaging seats like I had in my old E Class MB...

The M Sport seats without electrics (only electric lumbar) are the best I've ever had in any car.

It's also leatherette, and it you could have any complaint they might be warmer than leather, but the grip is good for the track, etc.

I have the premium package leather and find the seats to be quite comfortable. In fact much better than the two other 5 series BMW's I had in the past.

my standard leather seats w/ Lumbar control are comfortable on long trips for me. Much better than the sport seats in the MDX anyway. It just lacks latteral support for spirited driving, but it doesn't keep me from driving spirtedly; it just takes a little more effort to keep planted. Maybe the leatherette would have been better in this respect.

I have a 2013 X1 35i with X line package. No sport seats. They are soooo uncomfortable. I went to dealer and sat in a new 328i and could not believe how great those seats were. HOW do I get those seats in my X1?

I would love to know if I can somehow get ahold of the sport line red-stiching seats and swap them for the regular m seats. I just love that red stitching haha! Still think its pretty dumb that they aren't avail on the m sport!

I'm in Florida also and I would not buy a car without heated seats. Car makers should offer the option in the warmer states (especially in Fla where there are a lot of older people) as an "orthopedic option"

In terms of comfort, I have the ultimate package with the M Sport and the seats are great. There are so many adjustments and side bolstering that it's fairly easy to make them comfortable.
