Mein Auto: X1, petrol 6 cylinder
Exclamation rough idle when warm at "N" or "P"

My X1 is a six cylinder petrol and has clocked only 20,000km. After took the car in for warranty work (Vanos replacement) the engine run erratically between 450 to 600 rpm at warm. Does anyone know what did the mechanical do to the car? I was reluctant to take the car in because I knew once the engine is touched it would never be the same again.

Thanks,

Foke

If it was OK before you put it in for warranty work, they are responsible.
Is it a BMW Dealer and still under Warranty?
Me not being mechanical minded noticed that most cars idle at around 800 rmp. Perhaps if you mean idleing between 450 and 600 is to low and needs simple adjustment from the people who worked on your car.

Red face

Hi Tony,

Yes it was warranty work at the BMW dealer. Took the car back and inspected by the service manager himself. He discovered the cam shaft top cover was not tighten enough hence there was air leak into the system. This was enough to upset the emission system. Thanks for your input.
