V1 Savvy Install in wife's X1

I am driving my wife's 2014 X1 until my 2015 X5d arrives. I have wanted to install her V1 cleanly without any need to splice wires in the OEM wiring at all! The Savvy is an alternative to splicing and creates a very clean finish. Took 20 mins total. Used the rubber door moulding and headliner with an id card to hide the V1's wiring in the grooves seamlessly. There is a small access door next to the ODB (sic) where I stored all of the wiring harness/connections for the Savvy and V1 power. Drill a small hole to slide the wire from the Savvy on the top of the access door to hide all and keep a clean finish. Powered on the X and let the Savvy have it's 30 second 1st use cycle complete and walla the V1 is on. Cycled the X several times on and off to check for any issues and road tested for any wire vibrations. All good. Just as an FYI the V1 cycles on about 3 seconds after pushing the start button to power up the X's electronics. That totally normal per the instructions. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks for sharing. Do you use the Auto Start/Stop (ASS) feature (or Eco Pro mode)? I'm wondering if V1's Brownout-Booster is needed to maintain voltage at stoplights so it doesn't always reboot and beep every time the engine restarts when the light turns green.

We don't use that function but it does turn it on and off as I just tried it.

Thanks! I may try the in-line Brownout Booster and will report back.

Please I'm interested to know if that does work. I took delivery of my X5 last week and used an invisblend cord to tap into my rear view and it works like a charm. Not an option for my wife's X1 as it's too late to return the Savvy or I would have used it as well.

Since I haven't personally tested this combination yet, I contacted V1 and they quickly responded that the Savvy and Brownout Booster are not mutually exclusive and many customers combine them together.

Valentine 1 = radar detector

Price you pay for one new = price of speeding ticket you save + point on your record = very well worth it.
