Did they change plants for the X1?

Maybe my local BMW saleswoman is uninformed but she just told me that the 2015 X1 is not available for European Delivery because it's made in South Carolina now? Please say it ain't so.

It is the only current BMW crossover SUV that is not made in the U.S., but on BMW's home turf-in Leipzig, Germany, alongside the 1-series. And, I just purchased mine two days ago and it says right on the window sticker that it is made in Germany. It is also assembled in

China: Shenyang (BMW Brilliance)
India: Chennai, Tamil Nadu (BMW India) (CKD)
Mexico: Toluca (BMW Mexico)
Russia: Kaliningrad(Avtotor)[1]
Thailand: Rayong[2]

Thanks. Apparently this person is clueless about her own product. I'm gonna cut and paste your reply in an email back to her. Then I'll look elsewhere.

I did a Euro Delivery with a 2014 X1. Search " Four week compliance for three week trip" for documentation!

When we were shopping for our X1 last summer, two different CAs and one "product specialist" at the LA Auto Show all told me X1s were made in South Carolina. Each one if them argued with me when I started to explain that they were wrong.

Never assume that a car dealer knows more than a passionate consumer. Unless they're enthusiasts like we are, they probably only know enough to address the questions of the average dimwit.

I picked up my 2015 3.5 X-1 in Europe in April. All 2015's are still available for euro delivery. When they switch to the Fwd platform (2016), they will be made outside of Leipsig.
