Aux connection

Hey guys, I think its great you guys post all the modes and upgrades to your vehicle and the how to video. I have recently purchased the aux cable to hook-up in my 2006 750li and no aux position was available. I took my vehicle to the dealer to have it programmed and they said it would take time so they scheduled me a appointment. Question is, Is there any way i can do this myself and how do i Know if i got the upgraded MMI and Ask Unit before they hit me with a large labor rate and no it can't be done.

If you have a 2006... if the ASK (Single CD unit) was not upgraded to a newer one 07 and newer then you will need to get a new one first before you can add an aux port.

no luck with hook-up. went to dealer. I was told cable was not compatible with my vehicle. i took my vehicle to a high end audio installer only to find out the double idrive controller in the front and rear is a problem for integrating a aux cable or ipod. somebody help. if you know how to make this crap work send info to JML audio in Fenton, Missouri. you can look them up on internet. my vehicle is an 2006 manufacture date 09/05 with a system series of 2006 upgrade. Any info send to me @ 1baddad2have@sbcglobal.net

You're asking for help but when you get help you ignore it. You do not have the correct equipment in your car to do this upgrade. Only people who have upgraded their CD unit to 07 and have an upgraded MMI can perform this mod. Unless you plan on upgrading the equipment in your car, you have no way to do this official aux mod. There is an FM tuner mod people have been doing that always you to overlay an auxillary source signal over your fm radio .. A lot do us have done this modification successfully with little to no fm interference

Paper,
I know this may be a old post I'm replying to, but I too am interested in adding the aux mod to my 04 745li. I have included pics to show my current status. Based on that, I believe I need everything! Lol...But before I get started, first I wanted to know round about what it would cost to complete this mod, and two, where's the best place to get the facelift mmi, and the facelift 06-08 ask unit, and finally I'm a tad confused on how to get the mmi programmed to show the aux option. Is that something that has to done at a bmw dealer?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Ebay or a salvage yards would probably the
best place to get the parts . I have a few
parts if interested . Cost is hard to say
Depending on place you purchase them.
Coding would have to be done by an
Independent coder as the dealer won't do
It .

On a side note doing the OEM BMW Ipod
Kit would be a lot cheaper then the Aux .
Hit me a PM if you have anymore questions

I have a question for paper. The iPod interface kit mentioned in an earlier post, is programming from dealer required or is it a plug and play? The kit I'm talking about is about $300 and change. Part# 65110439425

No disrespect but if you don't understand what I am

AS for why delete CDC then put it back in the VO , I

was given that info by a Master tech who claims for

some reason the CDC option disrupts things when

adding to VO . I have not personally done it because

I have not had any problems when adding to or deleting

from the VO .

This is a damn good thread paper. I have been waiting to do this. My MMI and ASK are all facelift models. I got the Aux cable installed with ease. The only problem im having now is the AUX feature shows up in idrive but when selected it does nothing. So i go to add it to the VO and i get this error when adding Click image for larger version

This most likely means you have the wrong Ask unit .
May I recommend when searching for an Ask unit online
or purchasing from a wrecking yard , Try to get 1 from
a 07 or 08 . This way you don't have this issue .

Hello BimmerFest!

First post here and proud owner of a 2002 BMW 745Li that I purchased from my older brother.

Was hoping if anyone knew someone in Sacramento, CA offering this service? I watched the videos and it seems really simple but I'm just confused on what a facelift and ASK unit are..

Thanks for any help.
