Hey,

New owner here of a 2002 E65 745i.
I decided it was time to go for a little more power, size and luxury. So selling my E39 and bought an E65.

Not sure if this the right place to ask. But are there any modifications I can do, to replace the tape cassette player and also the tape storage area, for something a little more useful?

Smile My BMW 745i

Here's my baby:

2002 BMW 745i with 22" chrome wheels and nexen low profile tires.

Work done so far:

* Replaced hood struts (had to hold up the hood with my hand, not cool)
* Parking Brake Actuator Gear replaced
* Navigation CD replaced with 2013 version
* Halo lamps replaced with 7000K LCD and new DS2 HID's as well.
* BMW Hood Logo replaced (was worn out and scratched)
* BMW Logo Front License Plate Replaced
* Passenger side turn signal lamp (on body) replaced since it was loose and had condensation in it.

I love doing stuff on this car. . .it's insane!

Attaching some pics of the work on the headlights yesterday with my buddy in his driveway before and after. . .

You'll love it man. Mine needed a lot of work as well. I've almost got it to where I want to be with it. Just got my new wheels put on today. Window tint last week. Fixed a few things here and there when it comes to the electronics and fuses. It's been really fun. Project cars are great and much more rewarding when your standards are met!

i'm sorry i didn't post a grainy side profile photo of my vehicle, i have a nice camera and do not rely upon a cell phone. i see nothing wrong with my photo. your arrogance saddens me. it's an old bmw, not a new bentley/rolls. get over yourself.

Perhaps taking a moment to read the other posts would answer your question...this does not involve you.

Hey man. . .everyone has to start somewhere.

He'll have his 7 series look pretty snappy very soon I'm sure -- give the guy a break.

Let's welcome him to the family instead of cracking jokes.

He's here for the same reason as the rest of us.

Welcome to the club 02745li -- my 745 is the same year as yours! :-)

thanks netguy, i guess theres always going to be that 1 guy. gotta love the internet.

anyways, i'll be working on the 745li occasionally as time permits, i have several projects going on at the moment ('06 hemi charger, the 745, and a diesel superduty to name a few) so they all get a little attention as i have time, in the meantime i drive/enjoy them. if i wanted a brand new one, i could just get one, but i've always liked getting something used and beaten up and making it my own instead, plus used keeps the wallet thicker.

Ok so let me set this straight. Maybe my comment was a little rough. Ok, I'm sorry. Really you posted that pic of a car that is in need of a serious paint job. Agreed? With that being said usually people will find a way to hiding cosmetic defects b4 posting. In this case I agree, everyone starts some where. My self included. I'm the last one hear to be an ass just check some of my post. Heck look in my album. Once again maybe my comment was too harsh an you have my sincere apology. I can't say congratulations because those cars are filled with problems. You will more than likely put more in that car then you paid so ask yourself for real, is it worth it? But hey, there is plenty of info here to help you cause you will need it.

Mark.

Mark.
i don't think it's in serious need of a paint job, it has some rock chips on the front bumper, your probably will too when it's the same age, however being white it'll hide imperfections, where as the color of mine (whatever color it is...i'm not even sure) shows the imperfections Very clearly.

i don't need to hide anything, i'm not vain, and not someone who misrepresents things.

you're right it probably will have lots of issues to tackle, i didn't go into an '02, without knowing the issues that plague them, and if i get tired of messing with it, i'll sell it and get a 750. till then, it'll be a fun toy.
