Got my Eyes Wide Open

What's up Bimmer fans, I am steady looking for 2 front seats. Must be black, leather, and be power seats? Also I am looking for a newer E34 motor must have under 150000. Please I am a family man and by any means not rich but love my Bimmer. If someone out there can donate these or sell these at a affordable price that would save me and my car. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

if you lived closer I have a black passenger comfort seat. Which actually is in great condition.
Shipping would kill the sale though. I've shipped a seat to CA before.
IIRC ship was 80-100 per seat via greyhound.(NJ to CA) I maybe wrong.

That said if you need we got you. Just depends on what you can spend.

Can you come up with the driver side, that one is most important because it has decided to twist out of shape. My passenger side one has just completely stopped working altogether and is stuck in the laid back position leaving my passengers totally uncomfortable

That is easy to fix if you want to try it, i did my passenger seat in 20min as my first attempt, then both headrests in 10min once i knew what to do, my driver seat decided to quit up and down on one side this past week, so i get to do another seat twist repair.

Basic tools are needed, including a lighter.

This page has lost its formatting, but it is what i used the first time until i knew what to do, the pics are still there, just have to click them.

I recently used the method of removing the metal sheath at the end of cable with heat.
Cutting the plastic tubing and remelting the metal end back on.
It is a simple task compared with replacing with new cables (which I have done)
The connections up high in the seats are a real challenge to get on and off.
Especially the little clips which hold the cable in place.
That task is eliminated with the cut and melt method.
You need only deal with the lower connections which are easy to access.

I did have some difficulty removing the seats.
They need to be all the way back and head rest all the way down.
You can straighten the seat by aligning the gears on the side of the seat visually as you use the drill motor to equalize them.

I was surprised at how quickly the new cables "shortened".
It took only three years before I had to fix them.
I believe that the new cables shorten more quickly at first and less over time as they become more tightly twisted, so the cut and melt system
should be a better fix to the problem

That is how that guide i posted says to do them, pull the cable out, heat the end and pull off, cut 1/4 inch of plastic off and put the metal back on after heat, re insert cable and it is fixed. I used a torch.

Yes, I was seconding your motion.
Giving testimony, if you will, to your posted guide.
I did not read your guide because I have already done it , and so I see the redundancy (now that I have looked at it).
You are a great resource.
