Nikasil milage?

I know there are plenty of bad Nikasil post out there, but I would love to hear the good news, how many miles those does your Nikasil motors have on it. Mine is nearing a quarter of a million, no smoke and runs great 94 M60

Thanks TexNun! I guess that word scares off many, but I believe that your Nikasil is a good thing "IF" you didn't get cursed by bad gas, which is no longer sold in the US, due in large part to BMW's work with US suppliers. I have had two Nikasil cars, the 530i and a jaguar XK8and both motors were great performers, many very high end motors have used it for years, good gas, great motor IMHO

Really most if not all cases where the engine did get problems it was before the car reached 100k miles. So Im not worried and I dont think anyone else should be either.

I agree, the Nikasil motor is one of the best ever made IMHO. Extremely low friction for the increases performance and gas mileage. The high sulfur fuel that killed many, is gone forever, the motors that survived are rock solid, proved by mine with a quarter of a million miles and not burning a drop of oil No Alusil motors are doing as well IMHO. And when BMW decided to do away with the timing chain idle gear on my 740IL in place of a guild rail The M60 was, and is a fine piece of work IMHO

I've got 220K on mine, original Nik block. Compression numbers were all within 5% last time I checked them @ 195K. But it's too bad that the other parts of the car are not as hearty as the engine
