X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

E70 A/C smell - dash removal

I wanted to share this with everyone under the E71 forum simply because I found it fascinating how my BMW dealer fixed the problem. I have a 2012 E70 and was getting a bad odor coming from the A/C vents when activating the AC button. It would continue for about 20 minutes thereafter. This has been covered by many people previously. Sorta smelled like cleaning solution or something raunchy. I took it to the dealer who has heard of the issue before and replaced the evaporator condenser located behind the dashboard. I was completely skeptical of them removing it, in fact, I almost said no thanks and I'll live with it. But I put my faith in the dealer and wanted to share the pictures during removal and also completion. Needless to say, when I walked in and saw it in that condition I nearly fell over! It's now as if it was never removed to begin with!! So far AC no longer smells.
