Cool,

Anyone else think big price differences between stearlerships are ridiculous?
I have a key blank i want cut, well none will cut it, one place can, but will not because of the chip in my key(only want the blank to unlock the doors, it will be under the car).
So called 1/2 dozen dealerships, PLAIN JANE master key $175-$215.
Called one near where i am working, 160$ WITH a light, can have it next day. Can fax over all info(DL and registration) or email, and just pay when i comes in and get it with ID that was sent to them to order it.
Cannot believe the price differences, but i guess i found my new place to order parts.

But if anyone is looking a blank i have one, color emblem, and working LED with new battery, gold metal blank. Plenty other members have had them cut, but apparently none in the sticks can cut a specialty key with all their specialty signs out.

Did you tell them it's for an older car? I had a plain key cut at BMW in NYC for $45 overnight.

Man, still haven't gotten it cut? Sorry.

My key all in all was about $32 dollars cut. Thanks to Zombie Hunter for finding it, had it cut at a locksmith.

Far better than using a key broken in half.

Yea that is what i said, everywhere i look it says 45$ like realoem, and other info sites, but the damn dealers apparently don't care and charge the hell outta customers on some things. I have bought from two dealers and the prices match what realoem says they are. Who cares if it has a chip, but i did find a place bimmerPC, Inc : BMW Parts and Conversions in Ohio that had one for $65 shipped last night, so i will be sending my info and getting the key. Have gotten some off the wall things from them before so i will get my key through them. I just cannot believe the price differences in different areas.

I quickly searched for the E34 and couldn't find a direct answer, but someone said most BMWs wheel torque settings are at 88.

Is this the case for the E34?

Yea, didn't think of putting the foot pounds, most people here use that.

Yes, 88 foot pounds.

Drove about 140 miles today.

Almost crashed because my buddy asked my what kind of BMW was getting on the freeway and had to slam on the brakes.. first real near-accident experience I think. Really scary.

Also, I've been feeling the BMW being very sluggish getting up to speed fast, although it is what, around 3500 pounds?

These are before and afters of cleaning up the metallic black paint on my 88 Jeep Cherokee i bought Thurs.
First some water and Meguiars Ultimate Compound using a buffer and microfiber pad.
Rinse and dry, then some simple spray on wax and buff with the buffer and another microfiber pad.
Wipe clean after.

Basically, the compound is sanding the old wax away, and sanding the paint down smooth.
The sanding needs water to be done right, wet sanding is what it is basically, you need the water to help remove oxidation.
When trying to find the video explaining why i had seen a while back i found that it is supposed to remove swirls, but have never used it for that reason.

They look different, but count the coils i see 3 in between the top and bottom stop.

Please say you taped off the surface of those rotors, they are not meant to be painted, i cannot see the images that well.

If in park and both wheels up, you should be able to turn it as much as you want.
If one wheel is touching the ground, and you are in park, the one you are trying to turn will not move but just a bit, there is nothing else able to turn. Because when both wheels are up, one turns one way and the other will go the other way.

Read up on how everybody is opposing painted rotor brake surfaces. I know a guy who works at a Hyundai dealership and he paints them and says its no problem on the surface. These are the rear rotors as well.

I'd better hope so.

There are nine coils on each, and three between the middle.

But, is the surface where the pad meets the rotor painted? THAT will cause an issue, look at his rotors, i bet he has them turned after to get rid of the paint in that area, it must be clean. I painted a set and had them turned on a slow cut since they were new, that gets rid of the paint, and very little of the surface. BUT, if yours are not new you need them turned regularly.

So 9 total, and 3 between each stop ='s the same height, but you could just measure, either way it looks fine. How does it look on the ground?

BTW, the best way to pint them, would be to take them off, and hang them from a tree, make the most even coats, and very little overspray on anything.

Also makes it easier to paint the backing plate, and the caliper.

Yes, it is on the braking surface. I drove home last night with the front painted and now the surface is nearly cleaned from the paint.

My front left strut is leaking according to the mechanic who replaced my front calipers and refilled my transmission fluid.

I think I just need new suspension (JOMs).

I would pull the caliper off and check the pads, they may be getting gummed up from the paint, take some brake cleaner to them only, do not get it on your new paint, it will ruin it.

Just be careful with them, hate to see that you hit something from not being able to stop in time.

Drove them last night, I could smell the paint coming off of the surface. They were making a sticking noise, when I made a full stop, but still functional.

Am I the only one who takes pictures to make a write-up, and never actually makes them?

I should start doing them just for fun.

Pick n Pull has an E34 that arrived ten days ago with clear turn signals up front.. hopefully in the back also.

Hopefully will still have them. How much do the think rears would sell for if they are there?
