Passenger airbag disabled

My X3 at the top, where the phone jack is says passenger air bag disabled and the air-bag light is on in the cluster area--how do I enable it?

Mine does that when my wife is sitting in the seat buckled up and then decides to sit one one of her legs. I tell her to sit correctly and that makes the light go away. haha

Vern is right -- there is an on going "recall" for the pax airbag sensor that is known to go bad. I had mine replaced free at 101K miles and they didn't bat an eye, just fixed it. I did have to wait a couple of weeks though because the parts were on back order!

I am still fighting BMW for a warranty repair on my X3 since about 2 months of VINs were excluded from the recall.

The recall is for the passenger seat airbag sensor

Its a 1000 USD fix, 1350 USD in CA.
