Beltronics STiR / AL Priority Custom Installation Radar Detector/Laser Jammer

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, there are no pictures of the actual installation. Sorry about that.

I posted a little bit ago about impulse buying a new M4 that someone else had ordered, but declined actual delivery. Soon after I setup an appointment with Technicar to have a laser jammer/radar detector system installed.

Within the mirror, the top LED is the status indicator for the AntiLaser Priority system. The bottom display is for the Beltronics STiR.

In the lower center cubby the leftmost buttons are the controls of the Beltronics STiR. The left of the two right buttons toggles the power of the STiR, where there right button is a power toggle for the AntiLaser Priority system.
The end cost (parts and installation) $3693.99

Very cool and pretty much what I was considering as an installation but with the Escort system - really like the cubby installation and the Mirror is def the way to go. What are the laws in Florida re using jammers - they are now illegal in Texas as of a year or so ago - yours whilst not obvious are easily spotted by a knowledgeable cop - not concerned?

Nice install. Let us know how the range is affected, if any by placing the horn behind the grill slats. In my current setup, I had to place it outside the lower mesh grill due to interference.

Ciaranob, I would go with the regular BEL STIR+ over the escort 9500ci, since as you stated, the laser hammers are illegal. Same setup without the laser hammers, and actually better controls/band segmentation. The radar-mirror is nice, but still a bit pricey.

Ah did not realize that the STit setup was radar only - more familiar with Escort and V1 systems. Placement of the radar detectors usually is indifferent to plastic covers etc. so it may be that the behind the grill setup the OP has is OK as long as no metal material is involved. Agree though that you'd prefer to have as clean a 'viiew' as possible.

In Florida, it's all legal.

The closest place that is an issue for me is South Carolina, but then only the laser jammer is illegal.

I ended up going with the STiR + AntiLaser Priority only because that seemed like the 'best' option. I figured if I was going to spend the money to have it professionally installed, it would be a mistake to save a few hundred on a 'lower' quality system.

It would have been a major mistake just to save 1100 bucks [give or take the price of the "shifter" package with 9500ci from Escort... ALP + StiR is a by FARRRR superior package.

I didn't do my research because I just assumed Laser Interceptor still had the top spot and hadn't heard of ALP.

If I do another car soon ALP will be my go to for laser jamming and an overall more user friendly experience.

You have by far the most up-to date protective system money can buy. And an insanely well done job. I'd have paid 500-1000 for that install job.

Jesus christ. I mean cheese and rice $4000 for a laser jammer? What for? I have had my 9500ix serving me great for 5 full years now. I don't have a single, yes you heard me right ZERO, speeding tickets. I never understood why you need these things, you just need to be a bit intelligent about the way you drive:

* Never speed around the corners where you don't have a clear view of the possible points the LEOs can be parked.
* Never speed on the left lane like an idiot when there is not a single car in front of you for the next 1/4 mile.

I guess it also depends on where you live. Where I live, I have seen 1-2 lasers in the last 5 years. Not kidding. Everyone uses KA band here. How amazing! Also, everyone speeds here, everyone. The speed limit is usually 65 and everyone drives at 85-90. So with such speeds, the cops only pull over people who do high triple digits, which I think is too dangerous and not a good idea to begin with. If you live in some mid-west state however or some other conservative town where the average clowns like to drive 50@50 and cops love handing out tickets instead of solving real crimes (or maybe they dont have real crimes to solve), then I can see the argument behind this.

But still $4000? I mean that's like 8-9 tickets where I live with court and lawyer fees. How many of these things were you going to get without this thing? It's just a bit extreme.

Also, this is not a typical highway cruiser/triple digit speed car per se. It's not an M6 or a Panamera GTS. Those cars are comfortable 130-140 mph cruisers. This car gives me a headache because of the wind noise past 90 mph. So even if I were to speed beyond that, it would be for a second or two, not consistent.

But anyways, to each his own. Enjoy it!

Does anyone know of a current shop in Houston that can do this level of quality install? Obviously won't have the car for a while but never too soon to search - any advice appreciated. Need an established outfit (too may crappy outfits here in Houston), and will likely check-in with my local guru at Eurocar-Werk in Bellaire who has down really excellent work on unrelated auto-electric projects before.

Ships from canada and can custom setup weather you just want the jammers running or do all kinds of bluetooth stuff.

https://www.beltronics.com/store/stir-plus.html

Thats the Radar detector above and about the avg. price its going for

So those would be the parts

Very clean install! And that rear view mirror integration, very discreet. BTW, why did the original buyer who ordered the car refused delivery?

The Mirror folk are based in TX - http://www.radar-mirror.com/index.html - have found the right guys to do my install here in Houston in Nov. but there are some useful DIY vids on their site too, so keeping my options open.

Radar Mirrors are very slick. Do they have the correct mirror for the F8x yet? Do we assume it is the same as the F30?

I wanted this install last time, may have to give it a try this time. Very clean.

As far as I'm aware, nothing is available pre-built yet. The ones you see in this install were custom made (modifying the mirror from the factory).

Might want to fire off an email to the link I provided above - could have sworn that told me a while back that they arre ready for F8x but indeed it might have been what that last poster said I.e. Shipping your mirror to them
