Flywheel pin question

Hi everyone, I am finally gathering the tools and parts needed to change my timing chain guides and the kit I got came with a straight style flywheel pin. I was reading on a diy write up that a angled pin was used. Does anyone have experience with this? Can I use either style pin or do I need the angled one? Hopefully I can use the straight, Ive put off this project for a long while and would like to get my car back on the road asap. Thanks everyone for the help. Car is a 2001 740i

I needed the angled one for 2001. I just couldn't get the straight one to fit. Maybe others could, but since my tools had both, I gave up on using the straight pin.
