And another shot from a X5 test (proto) mule

Hi,

for those who haven't seen it yet ... this is a photo taken at Nuerburgring in Germany,
catching one of the BMW ngX5 proto mules

Not the most appealing design but at least the Bangle critics can't complain

When I first saw those pics my initial reaction was "is Bangle getting soft in his old age?" :

Interesting that they're saying that 3rd row seating will be on the X5 platform, versus the long rumored X7.

Why...

Why do the wheels get nicer looking as the vehicle gets uglier? X3ish headlight design + busy styling = a design that will not wear well IMO. Oh well...

If that silver picture is anything like a final production version then all I have to say it "yuck". That D pillar has the worst bastardization of the venerable Hoffmeister kink ever. (I know it's hard to incorporate that on a D pillar but they did it nicely with the E53.)

Maybe this isn't a test mule at all and it's actually Bangle's attempt to copy a Hummer since he copied the Grand Am for the new 5er.

Kevin, agree on the nasty looking D-pillar.

Doesn't that look like an X3?

I read about this in the latest Roundel. Aka X5L.

You don't recognize Bangle's next genersation of cutting edge design? j/k

I'm sure it is used to test various configurations of the powertrain and suspension to see what works best.
