Question 'Key is in ignition...'

I messed something up during my NAV retrofit...

I keep getting this message in the dash when exiting the vehicle...even though the engine is turned off and I pull the key out! I can not seem to lock/unlock the doors either with the key.

I don't have any of the NAV or radio components plugged in and I pulled the terminal on the battery for half an hour, but still have this problem. Checked all fuses too.

Sounds like a re-coding issue??

King, it sounds like something is seriously messed up with your X5. What I can tell you is that the databus in our vehicles is highly sensitive to wire tapping and wire quality. In other words, while installing your wiring for the NAV you inadvertantly crimped a wire or frayed one, this could be the cause of all your problems.

I'm not saying you did, but this is just too bizarre otherwise.
