Pics of my new 4.6 Wheels....

Up until this evening I was riding on Staggered 20x9.5 & 20x11 Breyton Magic Sports (For Sale), then UPS came bearing gifts, with 20" 4.6 wheels. I must say I like the look better than the Breyton's. Maybe if I had the sport package and clear lenses I would appreciate the Breyton's more, but they just didn't look as nice on my X5 as BreytonX5's do. Below are some quick shots of the X5 and its current configuration. It has been rainy all week so please excuse the dirtiness. I also took a pic under the hood to show my Dinan Intake and airflow meter. I also have the Throttle body and Intake manifold but those cannot be seen without some engine cover removal.

Outstanding

Great choice. I fits so good on that body and looks soooooo good. I think I like them more than the new 4.8 20" wheel.

I think the majority of X5ers would agree on this, except the 4.8is owners .

Looks great Frank. I agree with UCrewX5 that the 4.6 wheels are one the nicest. Everytime I see them I want them on my X.

The 5 spoke wheels always seem to fare better IMO. They are simple, classy, what's not to like about em?! I agree with some of the others though, I like the 4.6 wheels more than the new 4.8. However, I still love the 4.8 wheels.

Looks great!

And I still have a soft spot in my heart for the JGC 5.9.

Frank - since you are so close, did you swing over to Tire Rack in South Bend and pick these up in person or did you have them shipped to you? I've driven by their facility many many times and have always wondered if they allow walk-in's.

Jeff

Jeff- They do allow walk-in's, I know many people who have done this. They are really cool over there and often encourage people coming to check out their facility. I had the tires already from the Breyton Wheels and just had the 4.6 wheels shipped from AAA Rims in Holland, MI. They came in one business day and I had some real good guys I use at Nortown Automotive install them. It's not easy finding a shop that has experience with larger wheels and does quality work. I know a lot of locals in South Bend use the TireRack similiarly how we use an NTB or Just Tires. (I use to go to school at ND)

Very nice Frank! I too have an 2001 S2 X5. I was also checking out your old 5.9 website. Its nice to see a mod crazy individual like me. I have great respect for American muscle and your old Jeep is a great example!

Performance wise, how would you compare your S2 X5 to the JGC you had? Judging from some of the videos on your site, that thing flew!

Make no mistake, the Breytons are sweet wheels and BreytonX5's car is a perfect example.

The 5.9 had some raw and brut power. I would have to say 0-45mph the X5 and the 5.9 are equal or possibly the 5.9 had the edge. After that it's a done deal, the X5 gets the trophy. The Jeeps aern't geared well enough to compete with a german piece of machinery like the X5. Acceleration is the only area where the 5.9 could compete with the X5. Handling, ride quality, stability, luxury, etc, the X5 is far superior. Obviously this comes at a premium, with the X5 4.4i costing $20k more MSRP.

Thanks for the compliment, Tommy. Yep I got those Breytons from Marco (Mr.4.6) and I really like them alot. Another Breyton I really like is the new Spirit and they have size 21" for X5. Hmm, I'm tempted...but they're so bloody expensive.

If my Magic Sport's would have looked half as good as they do on your's, I would have probably kept them. For some reason they just didn't fit well with the Topaz and chrome window trim. The Spirit wheel is definitely hot. Tire selection really starts to get slim with 20" and up.
