Z3 Heater operation
When you move the heater temperature control knob off of the minimum temperature position, it closes a switch and opens the heater valve. This sends water to your heater coil (core).
On the M's, it also shuts off the auxiliary water pump. If you continue to turn the heater control knob, it reduces the amount of outgots air bypassing the heater core. Outgots, is air coming in. Ingots/outgots came from where I used to work. At work, ingots was the indoor temperature. Outgots was the outdoor temperature. So if the outgots air is really cold, the knob ends up at the maximum temperature position.

For us, goes-inna's was the input signal (or voltage) and goes-outa's was the output signal (usually 4-20 ma). Different part of the country, I guess...

How do you test the water valve control switch?
