Sunroof Option

Quick question. I am about to order a 2017 M4. If I add the sunroof option, does it lose the Carbon fiber-reinforced-plastic roof and come with a body color roof?

Thanks!

Correct. The CF roof is only without a sunroof.

Yeah you don't want a sunroof anyway. In my opinion the car looks better with the cf roof.

I'll miss the sunroof, but not more than having that CF roof!

When I get it, I can't wait to take it out on the autobahn.

Agreed in the CF roof. It's a must have.

I'm 6'3, I can tell you right now the carbon fiber roof has WAYYYY more head clearance than the sunroof option. My previous stint with the F-chassis' was a '15 328i with a sunroof, although nice I always felt clearance issues even though I had the seats super low.

Now with the CP bucket seats and the CF roof, I have no issues, so much more clearance. Carbon roofs for the vertically challenged.

You can always cut a hole and make a sunroof. CF cuts easily. .

I don't miss the sunroof in my M2, but this is the first car I've had without one since 1988. LOL. I had one installed in my '88 CRX.

Someone posted about the loud rain hitting the CF roof compared to the normal roof. Any truth?

Mine has sunroof, which, at the end was part of the deal. I still think the the CF roof looks cooler, but I would have bitched about not having it. My wife's previous CX-5 didn't have the sunroof and we griped about it often...it was rectified about 18 months later.

sometimes I miss the sunroof, not only to have it open, but just the sunlight it lets in even closed. With the CF roof it's a bit dark inside, but I still wouldn't own the car without the CF roof.

I opted for the really big sunroof. I'm not really interested in a CF roof just for the appearance.

I love my moonroof. Car doesn't feel right in summer without everything opened up, windy & bright.

Never had a sunroof, was considering getting one. Why is the CF so much better?

It's pretty.

It's also a bit lighter than a metal roof, but the real answer is that people like it because it's pretty. It's possible to order the CF roof painted, but nobody does that because they want to look at the CF and want others to see it.

I'm guessing with the carbon fiber roof you lose the brackets for a roof rack as well. As a general purpose car, that's the biggest thing I'd miss. I'd probably opt for the sun roof just so My wife and I can stil use our Thule rack to haul our tandem around.

It weighs less and moves the center of gravity lower to the ground, ie, better for handling.
