X6 F16 (2015 - Current)
The all new 2015 BMW X6 is the second generation luxury cross over. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The F16 BMW X6 is build side by side with the F15 X5 at BMW's BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Read all about the second generation BMW X6 here!

20 Inch Rims - Excessive tire wear??

I have been driving the 5 series for about a decade now. I was thinking of buying a X6.

I spoke to my service adviser about getting an x6. He has been my go to guy for many years now. He strongly recommended against the X6 with 20 inch rims. He said, to get good handling, the camber on the x6 is excessive and consequently just rips through tires. He said that many customers are complaining very loudly that the inside of the tires are worn to the steel but the outside still has lots of rubber. He noted a women just came in and was very angry at having to get new tires at 10,000 miles.

His strong recommendation was to stay with the 5 series or go to the X4 - which to me is a little small.

Thoughts??

I'm on my 3rd X6, one 50i and 2 ///Ms. Granted I don't do a lot of miles, my lease returns are at about 36,000 miles but I haven't had any issue "ripping" through tires or uneven wear.

I do switch out between two sets for summer and winter. If I remember correctly, I did replace the summers '13 ///M a few months before lease end. Winter set was almost down to wear bars.

The X6 blast.

Oh no... I p/up my x6 in 48 hrs with 2 sets of 20".

Too me I have always liked the x6 shape, some hate it. But its my coin.
I never liked the x4, the proportions appear lacking, also the interior is based on x3 from 2011, 6 yrs old and G01 coming out in say 2018.
If your initial thoughts is small, then stay away.

If your concerns are valid then try x5.

Thanks guys. I absolutely love the looks of the X6.

cmyx5go, if you return at 36ks, and you were on your third set that would be around 15k for each set. So, for the average driver at 15k a year, that would be about one set a year. Doable, did not get much better on the 5 series.

Agree on the X4, nice but a little small for me.

X5/X6 F15/16 tire distance set up is same except wheelbase of x6 is 1086mm vs 1063mm.

if there is an issue, appears not to be widely reported not to say experienced.

15k is a good estimate, probably a little more. And I'm not easy on them, I tend to drive on the spirited side Go for it. Enjoy.
