I am in search of the best road car for the value and driving experience. I have found a very nice 2010 535i MSport (loaded), a nice 2011 535i, and 2011 550i both sport packages (not MSport), all around 40,000 miles and CPO. There is a $6k difference between the 2010 and 2011 535's, and a $9K difference between the 2010 535 and 2011 550.
I drive mainly highway miles and would expect to keep the car for a few years.
If you are an acceleration nut, and really motivated to get a 535, do yourself a favor and don't drive a 550. I made that mistake and now have a stage 2 Dinan 550xi in the garage.
LOL. I did the exact same thing. Had all intentions of ordering 535i. Test drove a 550i on a whim, ended up buying it (with the great end of model year incentives they had it was very close to the $$$ of an ordered 535i) and just got the stage 2 installed two weeks ago. Absolutely zero regrets and would do it again in a heartbeat.

For $200 more, the stage 2 is really worth it. Slight bump in hp from stage 1, but more importantly much better response in 1st/2nd gear. Have not heard of anyone on these boards sticking with stage 1.
Definitely spend the extra money and get a 2011, either the 535 or 550 is nice. The 2010 are the older style and frankly, they look dated. You will drive around in it looking at F10's and wish you had one. Never liked the pre-F10 look.
