That is surprising. In most cases the Kyosho's have greater detail and quality than BBurago or AutoArt. Check eBay and compare Lamborghini Miura models by all 3 manufacturers and you'll see what I mean.
Is that the slot car or the RC car?
I'll probably get the 1:18 model and the RC car. Might have to do two bodies one Blue, and one AW with the motorsports stripes. Would be fun to play with at Hot Summer Nights this year.
Update:
I ordered one from a local dealership (I hate buying stuff from dealerships, but in this case there's no effective alternative). The first quote I got was for $173, which I laughed at. The salesman dug some more in his computer and discovered that it is supposed to be sold for $89 I asked about a BMWCCA discount and when he entered that the price went back up to $159 So, whatever. I'm out $95 after tax and should have it Monday.
I "won" the above mentioned eBay Coupe and it should be waiting for me at home. As I recall my winning bid was about $86. The eBay seller was from the service dept at an Ohio BMW dealer. Actually on eBay currently he has 4 available for immediate purchase at $84.99, so I'm assuming that's about the price you should be shooting for at your local dealer.
Can anyone help me see if they have other colors for the model. Specifically Titanium Silver? Or how I can get the part numbers for the other colors, if they do have them in other colors.
I took delivery of my new model today! It looks great. There was a tech at the dealership that collects the models and was not aware the Z4MC was available. He was ordering one as I left with mine.
Just got mine today. Got it from eBay too. The detail is amazing. The steering wheel actually controls the front wheels. :yikes: Kyosho makes a fine product.
FYI: When I went in to the dealership to pick up my first model I informed them that I knew their cost basis was some $30 less than what they were willing to sell them to me for (thanks Ron). So I told them I'd order my second one from them, but only if they applied a 10% BMWCCA discount to both orders. They went for it, so I saved a little cash. Those with better haggling skills could maybe get a more significant discount.
Just picked up mine from Towne BMW with my BMWCCA discount. I now have about 50 1:18 BMW diecasts, from BBurago, UT, Auotoart, Kyosho.
Autoart quality is definitely comporable to Kyosho. Bburago definitely a step below, and UT no longer made. Kyosho makes all the "official" ones for BMW
Got mine from Tischer on Friday ... here are pics of it with the Z3MC that I have had for a while.
