Hey guys im selling my CSL wheels " OEM not ZCP" and I wanted to offer them up to anyone here that might be interested. The wheels have no curb damage. I will sell them with the PS2's that are on them 245 35 F 275 30 R or without.
Where were you last week? I'm waiting on some to be shipped from the UK right now, I've been looking for some pretty much since I bought my coupe. Story of my life, man. When I meet the woman of my dreams, she'll be one of the bridesmaids at my wedding.
I know these are probably spoken for. But what is typical retail on these and what is the advantage of getting these over replicas like EAS carries. Weight difference etc. And what size are the wheels. Thanks.
Creator8: if you want the quality of CSL with less cost, you can buy the Competition wheels (called ZCP, referring to the M3 Competition package), which are the same quality; the only difference is that the fronts are 8" wide rather than 8.5". You can find ZCP wheels for $1600 without wheels from several BMW dealers online.
CSL replicas will cost you about half that from numerous online vendors.
Authentic CSLs typically run between $3000 and $4000 dollars - there aren't enough in the US to track prices well. There's a vendor in Atlanta (Beckers, Bekkers, something like that) that will source them from Europe for $3700, shipping included. I paid that amount (shipped) for some on eBay; mine are used, but they also come with new tires.
There's no sane, rational reason for insisting on authentic CSLs and spending an another $2000 for an extra .5" of tracking; truth is, it would have smarter for me to get some Competitions and spend the money saved on the 4.10 rear differential I'm planning on. But my philosophy with this car has been "all out" - it's why I decided on an M, why I got a coupe, why I'm getting the 4.10 instead of the 3.91 gears I was considering. In the end, accepting I was the sort of M Coupe fanatic that would name his kids Emma and Cooper and concieve them in the car if he were limber enough, I went for the real thing. But there's not a lot in that paragraph I'd recommend for the average owner.
I read conflicting reports. The official BMW releases said that they were forged, but some people say later that that was a mistake, etc. At any rate, the real CSLs are made by BBS.
My CSL wheels also came in a few pounds lighter "without tire" then my stock wheels on my scale. Cliff and I had the same expierence when we compared the two.
If you're serious about weight though, there's only a couple of rims to go with. After some searching, I'm thinking Volk RE30s. In 18x8.5/9.5 they are 17 and 18 lbs. I had Volk TE37s on my last Porsche and they weighed 18.5 and 19.5 in same size. Thats a big drop from the CSLs whether replica or OEM--5-7lbs is going to be really felt here. Also if you do some research on the tires there's potentially 10lbs a corner to lose.
