My dealer just received their first 2013 model and it shows the Navigation option as 609 Hard Drive Navigation System. Is this the new one we have all seen pictures of?
S609A is the new Navi. I have it on my 2013 550i M Sport. That number was taken right off of my VIN configuration list. Will have the car in a few weeks.
I wonder if they changed/improved anything with bluetooth or added new tech features. As of right now, I can buy a loaded MY12, or order a MY13. Thought the new idrive would be awesome, but this video under sells it...
I am going to steal a response I got here from another member...
There is hardware upgrade with newer technology (bigger hard drive, faster processor, more integration) Also keep in mind, by refreshing the hardware even if it was the exact same sized hardware it would improve performance - the hard drives of 5 years ago, perform differently and current generation HD of the same size, etc.
You can't always sit on the sidelines waiting on new technology, and at some point you have to get into the game, but the upgraded iDrive system, which is basically here now, and the upcoming LCD Gauge display are pretty substantial improvements, and may be worth waiting for.
So to be clear - it will be a new connected iDrive with added features and functionality. It WILL NOT be the Touch based iDrive do out for a later model year. That one is rumored to be for the 2014 model year refresh.
I doubt it. You might get a map upgrade, and if they implement a new routing scheme because of a bug they find in the old program, you might get that, but from my understanding, the Idrive system got a major upgrade for this year. That probably has a lot to do with the new abilities for the new nav system.
