Bluetooth pairing Verizon Galaxy S3 with 2012 535i

I purchased a Galaxy S3 from Verizon a few months ago, paired it to my 2012 535i and everything worked well. In August, SMS messages and the phone book no longer synchronized with the car. I believe this coincided with a BMW connected drive software upgrade. In September, Verizon did a software upgrade to the Galaxy S3 which now seems to have destroyed all connectivity to the car. I've tried re-pairing but the connection breaks off after a minute or so and keeps reestablishing itself a number of times after which the Bluetooth pairing menu shows on the car display along with the request to pair a phone. At this point, all previously paired phones have been deleted from the car menu.

The car's Bluetooth connection works flawlessly with an AT&T Atrix. Has anyone experienced similar problems, know of a solution?

I am experiencing the same trouble in my Hyundai Genesis, switched to a Motorla MAXX HD and it works flawlessly. I think its the phone... mine is Verizon as well.

Have you tried denying access to your phone book? A thread in the E90 section posted similar issues with the S3 that were resolved by doing that. The thread is here if you want to browse it:

I've got a '11 F10 and my verizon Samsung Galaxy s3 works. The phonebook transfers. It no longer shows what is playing via bluetooth audio (or sometimes it's wrong). Turning the audio on and off on the car still stops and starts the phone's playback.
