Okay So I have a minor coolant leak, and whilst diagnosing the leak I removed the Air filter Box, and started the car to check for the leak. The transmission Cog light appeared, have never seen this light before and have never appeared before. I contacted the BMW dealer and he said it is a warning light that appears whenever the car is started without the airbox connected. However I reconnected the air box and the light is still there? Was what he said true? Or do I have other problems?
Just restarted car and TRANS light has gone, all gears including Manual Mode appear to work fine. IF the dealer was right wouldn't the light have gone off as soon as the air box was put back in. Not on the second attempt with the air box put back in?
ehh, it all depends some lights stay on until dismissed, others take a few min to go off, you can also pull the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and that also dismisses them.
The lights won't go out until the car sees the MAF and proper readings. This could take a couple ignition cycles.
