My story:
First pump failed in November 2009 at 35,349 miles. I've got a 2008 E90 335. I never got the CEL or reduced power, just long cranks. Took the car in for an unrelated service appt and mentioned the long cranks. They replaced the pump with part # 13-51-7-592-881. Work order states "Note to claims inagration level was E89X/07/12/515 to high to reprogram for 2FBF fault SIB 13/07/09 was followed to trouble-shoot this car." I have no idea what the hell that means, but the car drove and felt like everything was the same. No lag, etc. Drove in DS like the animal it always was.
Got the CEL, engine malfunction reduced power light, yellow, on 4/14/10. Drove immediately to the dealer, they ran their tests, submitted it as a PUMA case, and replaced the pump for a second time. Part # 13-51-7-594-943. They also replaced the sensor for low pressure. And, apparently, they updated the car's software. The work order does not list the software version that they installed. But, let me tell you, the car is not the same. Drives like normal in D, but the animal I once had when using DS is GONE! Honestly, now there is very little difference in shift patterns between D and DS. I'm not happy. It's like I dropped off one car for service and picked up a completely different one.
I called and b#$ched about it. They explained that the software update was required and most likely resulted in resetting the the adaptive transmission settings, and that with more seat time and brisk driving, the settings would probably return to normal. Well, 8 days and 400+ miles later, and nothing's changed.
Just wanted to vent. I used to us DS when I wanted to get a little wild. Now, what's the point?
