BMW Welcome Kit

When you buy any BMW do you recieve a welcome kit like this http://jalopnik.com/cars/novelties/p...nce-233084.php or is it just for th X3.

I received a welcome kit very similar to the package pictured on the link you provided. I purchased a 550i.

Unlike the author of the article, I enjoyed the DVD and the little book they provided. I really have no interest in the CD's that tell stories as you drive, but I am not going to criticize BMW for sending these things to me.

I also don't agree with the author's opinion that BMW goes too far with their marketing to their customers. After 35 years of buying cars (both foreign and domestic) it's nice to break the pattern of being ignored and taken for granted. I like having a company show a little appreciation for selecting their vehicle.

One thing I did enjoy was the Pokey clock that was sent prior to my leaving for Munich to pick up my car. An inexpensive item to be sure, but thoughtful just the same. A nice little souvenier of the best buying experience I've ever had.

I got one too. Surprised me when it showed up in the mail. It isn't quite as fancy, but that was back in 2005. The DVD was neat.

I received on in 2002 when I bought a 330Ci but haven't gotten anything on the 07 Z4 M Coupe I picked up in November. How long did it take to receive this after you got your cars?

I received the same thing and was almost going to post about it myself since it seemed a bit odd in a way. I picked up my 335i in November and just got it a week or two ago.

My kit came about a month after my car was re-delivered.

I purchased a CPO and received one about a month after the purchase it had a DVD, some books (BMW promo stuff) and laminated cards with my BMW assist info and 24 roadside assistance info. Showed up in a nice grey glossy looking box.

I bought my car in November and just recieved mine yesterday. I haven't had a chance to go through it yet though. Seems nice, I like it.

I recieved one for my M coupe about 3 weeks ago... very impressed, makes you feel appreciated for your purchase!

Throw in a series hat or polo shirt perhaps XL in say Black and then we've really got something!!

If anything that shows the company has care and appreciation for the way you own their product. That is much better than throwing you the standard badly written manual and buh bye.

About three weeks after my re-delivery, my dealership sent me a letter with a $50.00 gift certificate to use in the parts department where they sell shirts and caps as well.

The letter also invited me to bring my car as often as I wish for a free car wash and a beverage of choice from their premium quality coffee shop.

I received a gift from BMW 1 week after picking up my 07 m coupe. Some cookies in a tin can... they were good cookies. My friends were there to eat my 56k cookies.

I had forgotten about the cookies. They came before I picked up my car.

From what I can see they want to show that BMW is a "free" company, which is true.

BMW is 100% owned by the Quandt family and they don't have to answer to any other parent companies, unlike all other automakers. This gives them the freedom to say "no we won't do it" when some stupid MBA exec comes suggesting that they build crappy FWD cars to meet market demands or some other bullcrap management idea, which BTW, is why Ford and other MBA dominated automakers are doing poorly or going under.

Oh, and BTW, everyone and their parrots in the management team in BMW have Ph.D.s in engineering. Even the Marketing chief has a Ph.D. You gotta respect that. That is why BMW consistently innovates and produces technology that is absorbed by all other automakers 10 years later.

In summary, I see nothing wrong with BMW trying to educate the masses about what is the difference between a great car company and a crappy one and why that happens. It is marketing, but it is true in EVERY account. That is different than, for instance, Ford claiming their pickups are "build Ford tough" when, if you look under the car you will see the suspension made out of the lowest grade iron piece of crap material that you have ever seen.

bmw is not 100% ownwed by the Quandt family, big part of it is, just not the whole thing. they do keep the controlling package

do you know if i can purhcase a welcome kit without actually having purchased the car?

Do they still do this? I never received one.

Yes they do. MY 2010-carbonfiber pen 2012- BMW flash drive. Both very nice IMO.

I did not get one when I leased my MY '11 X3. I did get one when I purchased my MY '01 330xi years ago. Every other purchase has been a CPO.

I took delivery of a new 135i in November and have not received anything.
