I'm about to buy Brembo caliper covers for my 01 540i. Has anyone installed them? Will they directly fit on my stock brake calipers with 16-18 inch OEM wheels? Do u guys recommend them?
I pulled a set off of a customer's son's car b/c they contributed to the stock brakes overheating. :thumbdwn:
Otherwise they are one of the most ridiculous bits of aftermarket BS I've personally encountered IMO, but to each their own. Do know that should someone with real Brembo brakes brake check you, you'll likely become one with their rear bumper with a quickness. :tsk:
Checked em out, they are made of plastic, they don't really cover the brake caliper to well and for 50 bucks no. I would paint the calipers and if you want words on them check out ebay for caliper stickers, you can get all kinds of them. Check out the pics and note the difference in look vs real caliper. It's really up to you but I bet you would like the painted look better!
Thank you so much. Due to the ugly looking result and contributing to the stock brakes overheating, I'm not gonna get them, and therefore I guess I'm gonna go with painting them. Any recommended products?
i ordered some caliper paint off line i t was like ten bucks DONT NOOT GET HIGH TEMP PAINT make sure its caliper pait i got yellow and painted mine i have a red e39. and they look choice.
Anyone putting those ridiculous things on his car will *immediately* have his Roundels ripped off and burned !
And to those who are considering caliper paint as an alternative, just consider how scrawny & malnourished those stock calipers look....do you REALLY want to draw attention to them ?????
(Naaaahhhh, I didn`t think so )
If *anything*, just paint `em black, for the sake of cleanliness....
Those black painted calipers with or without the BMW lettering sure cleans up the cars look. Modernises it alot. As for the plastic ones. I don't understand why?
Those black ones look absolutely great and I'm definitely gonna paint mine black. One more thing I might need to know is though, would recommend taking the calipers out and paint them separately, or keep them in placed and just cover everything else around them?
I painted mine when I changed the rotors & pads. I had the caliper pretty much out and was easy to paint. The spring I painted silver (cannot see in the pic, because the spoke is in he way, and very dark). In daylight they look really good, you can see the bits and pieces clearly. Matches very good the car.
