I'm pretty sure the 735 and some V6 models of the E38 in Europe came with a manual transmission as an option, but I'm not sure if that helps you or not, maybe the dealer could import one for you.

I'm pretty sure there was a distributor on this website a while back that did custom leather shift boots, but I can't remember the company name.

Oh, and congratulations on doing a manual swap. I can't think of a better upgrade to the E38, and I know I'd enjoy a 6-speed.

This company seems to do quality work! And I really am intruiged by the manual tranny swap. I just may lookl into doing this myself. How difficult was it and did you have to modify anything to mount it?

What computer are you using? Also I wonder if a 540i shifter boot would work...? ALSO pictures of how you ran the pedals would be awesome along with the clutch cyl ect... If my transmission goes out I would definetly consider this as an option.

Check autohaus.com...they seem to have most everything and in my experience so far, reasonable prices...

Nice. I've been looking into a few mods for my 7. The 6-SPD was definitely one of them, I had a buddy parting out a 01 540i but my priorities changed and now am selling the car that took me 1.5 years to find. I'm sure I will land another one later, but its the logical choice to sell the one that does a tad less on gas. I had mine planned out to go with a 6spd swap, E60 M5 rotors and calipers, and some coilovers. But I couldn't manage to reach them because of moving and other things. I can't imagine how awesome that is to drive. I've had a 540i manual with 3.15 diff, still didn't manage to feel like an E38 740i Sport. This is mine:

^yea man i know how ya feel. being 13 year old car and the amount of problems it has ( being my fathers work car he had since '99 then giving it to me when i turn 16 ) i love the car and i have done a unbelievable amount of work to the body with rust and dents, the electronics are horrendous for me cant get my driver power seat goin and it isnt the motor, radio dont work, cd player dont play certain slots, sub deck completely blown, rear passenger side window broke, headliner is falling, i replaced the front bushings and control arms and balanced the tiresd and the steering wheel vibrates like a son of a gun on any road less than perfectly smooth at about 45mph. i could keep goin but im just gettin more mad haha i am replacing the battery and ignition switch for now just to deal with the electrical gremlins but i am looking into getting a 6 series coupe soon. i will not abandon my 7 though its in my opinion the e38 models are the best 7 series production car ever made but idk if i want to dump anymore money into this greedy machine haha.
