So it's that time of year again... actually had to break out the ice scraper. But not just any ordinary ice scraper, The BMW Snow and Ice Remover. Because, according to the BMW vehicle care booklet, you should use the BMW Snow and Ice Remover, and nothing else. Found this quite humorous, as I managed to purchase the same type of ice scraper with brush for a third of the price at Walmart. Anyhow, since it looks identical to the one pictured minus the "BMW" lettering, I just call it my own BMW Snow and Ice Remover. Plus... it sounds way cooler than just calling it an ice scraper.
Oh, but the Walmart ice-scraper isn't treated with a special chemical coating designed by BMW GMBH exclusively for your ultimate driving machine. No doubt you will rue this day!
Wait, ....... if you don't have a garage to protect your BMW baby from the elements probably are not providing a suitable home for this fine machine .......
Now if I could just get that darn cat off my warm engine hood these cold days :dunno:
I don't get snow/ice here, but I do use Aquapel on the windshield. I bring that product up, because I've seen YT vids showing how much easier snow/ice comes off with the stuff applied. I would without a doubt try it myself if I were you, but no guarantees. Cheaper in bulk, originally designed by PPG, chemically bonds, and not silicone based like RainX, as far as my understanding goes.
For the paint, I don't have such a unique idea for that, but I do recommend at least a couple coats of a longer lasting sealant. I suppose you could try Collinite 476S because it's designed to stand up better to road salts, and is very affordable. At the beginning it had a rep for very long life, but it's actually not that great compared to some select competition out there. On the flip side, it wasn't known as a beauty wax either, but then it's been used to win concours d'elegance. Good luck with your ice scraping!
Did the Walmart ice scraper have 40 BMW engineers signing off on it? Looks can be deceiving! It is actually a BMW "below freezing ice removing implement" with "critical blade angles" and "polymer" design to prevent "undue" bending in "typical use" as designed and tested for 5,000 hours by BMW engineers.
You have UPSET THE ORDER OF THE BMW UNIVERSE by using WALMART ice scrapers and SHALL BE PUNISHED ACCORDINGLY. May we please have your personal details: name, address, phone number...social security number please?
