Greetings! I'm new to the forum and delighted to be here.
We currently have a 328 Xi 2008 BMW. We are thinking of doing a huge upgrade to a 335 Xi 2013 Sport Edition. Anyone have some good feedback on the car? We are getting it pretty well loaded but opting out of the Technology package. I've never driven a turbo engine, what should I expect?
Sport/M Sport lines on an xDrive don't come with the sport suspension. If you want better handling on an xDrive you need to get the Dynamic Handling Package. Luckily that's only $1,000 and includes the adaptive m suspension and variable sport steering.
Consensus seems to be that if you're not getting the manual that the $500 sport automatic upgrade is very much worth it. I went for the 6 speed manual so I can't really say.
The rest of the options depend on how gadget-happy you are really. I'm pretty indifferent to them but lots of people LOOOOOVE them.
I confess that I just want to turn the key on and go. I don't have Bluetooth now or navigation and that's just fine. Our town went hands free a while ago and I guess it's time to be legal.
We test drove a 2012 335 I today and it felt a bit heavier than my 328 XI but I did like the acceleration! So many options though, I see how easy it could be to get very distracted on the road. "Siri, where am I?".
I have the 328xi and am very happy with it. The 335i is better, but realize it's only about 35-40 more horsepower and it's a little bit heavier. I could feel this weight difference in handling between a 328i and 335i but I have not driven a 335xi/328xi back to back so not sure if it's more/less noticeable with the x-drive option.
I drove the sport auto and regular auto back to back and personally could not detect gear changes happening any faster or the car picking different gears with either one.
Hey all thanks for the replies. I misspoke in that we did get the Technology package, we didn't get the Drivers Assist package. Looking forward to driving it! The 328 was alot of fun and I'm expecting the 335 to be even more fun to drive.
We traded our 2010 328 for a 2013 335 and couldn't be happier, except that the new one has been in the shop for 3 days now getting new brakes!!! Had to wait for parts, brakes were squeaking loud and SA said that brakes had to be replaced. Yikes.
Whoa. Sorry to hear about the brakes! We drove one today and put money down on one that's coming in around the 22nd. Can't wait, but it meant we sold the 328 which I miss already!!
I had 328xi for 2 years and just upgraded to 335xi sportline - could'nt be happier. I test drove 2013 -328 and 335 back to back and decided to go with 335.
People say difference between two cars is only 50 bhp but I must say it is totally different car. In sport+ mode you can feel thrust like M3, (obviously M3 is more fun).
So go for it..........
Enjoy your new toy! We won't have delivery until the end of the month, beginning of November. They seem to be hard to find. We were told there were only four in the area.
No comparison between the 328 and 335, test drove both and knew I had to have the 335. In sport plus mode, it is ridiculously fun. This car is going to get me in all kinds of trouble. Get the 6MT if you can, however the sport auto is a decent option if you can't get or don't want the manual.
Well they replaced all four brake pads, problem solved except the tech dinged a rim now rim has to be replaced! Didn't see until I got home but dealer said they'd take care of it, hopefully no problem only 1500 miles on her.
