HI bee-emmers i have a steering wobble at speed ,around 65 through 80 mph but not constant!i have replaced front wheel bearings and control arm and tension strut bushes, and had a 4 wheel alingment,i suspect drive shafts? Any thoughts?
Are the wheel original BMW wheels or replicas or aftermarket. Also are they the correct hub bore size? You can't fit BMW E39 wheel to E53 without hub rings or E70 wheels to E53 without hub rings.
Hi Guys, wheels are fine, with the correct fitting diameters,i think i know what the problem is ,i have replaced the front rotors since my last post and although the origionals were warped and it did improve but did not solve the wobble!i think the prob lies with the drive flange, when i replaced the wheel bearings i think i may have distorted the flange!that is my next test.....will keep you posted!
I had the same issue. I landed up changing the discs (rotors), pads, track control arms, lower ball joints, sway bar links, wishbones and bushes. sorted out all the wobble issues under breaking. Easy jobs to do DIY
Yours could be a sticking caliper! The caliper piston corrodes and sticks out ,keeping pressure on the rotor,so any runout on the rotor is felt through the steering wheel!
