I never got the T-Bar but I do think it looks damn sharp. Instead I had some replica brake cooling ducts installed. Both look great IMHO but ultimately boil down to personal pref. The T-Bar seems to be so very rare, which of course makes it even that much cooler.
I got mine from DDM Tuning down here in San Diego and it pretty much fills in the hole...at first i didnt like the E36 ///M3 emblem on the E39 moulding, but its not that bad. Look in my sig for the pic...
has anyone had any luck on finding only the ///M emblem? I'm having a little trouble finding it. I have the black moulding all around and I just wanted to add the emblems onto them.
The part # is listed in this thead but the oem factory ones will not work unless you are looking for the stick on. Just buy the 2 moldings complete with the emblem.
So far as it stands you'll probably have to replace that moulding piece on your car to accomodate, as mentioned above. The stock factory piece wont have the clip opening. If thats what you're asking.
Thanks for the replies. I saw the part number but i still cant find it for sale anywhere. If i were to find it, do you think its possible to break off the clips, make the backing flat, and then use an adhesive?
Worse comes to worse i'll do what you guys said and buy the whole piece.
Also, does anyone have any experience with these type of emblems:
dam man i have a hard time remembering what side my gas tank is on so iunoo......nah jk. thats for that input bro. made things clear and easier for when i get the incoming bumper and parts. (b^.^b)
guys are there any more updates on where to get the mouldings kit, dealers want my soul........... surely there must be an after market kit available ????????
I have a question for all those that have pre 2000 e39's with chrome trim on mouldings. I finally ordered my m5 front bumper and understand it comes with the plain black bumper moulding. I also have been looking at the DDM side moldings for some time, but I am not to sure what to do for the rear bumper if I decide to keep the stock rear bumper.
Can we just remove the chrome strip and make it work, or is my only solution to purchase an M5 rear bumper from DDM as well. I'd rather not go the route of an M5 rear as I will then have to do my exhaust and I seem to like the stock look anyway. I also have the option of spraying all the moldings white to match the body paint, but not sure I like that either as the black mouldings break up the all white look and match the shadowline window trim, I could also find a way to add chrome trim to the new M5 front bumper mouldings to match what I have now.....decisions, decisions. any input would be appreciated.

don't color match the molding. i have mine color match and i think it smoothens out the shapes of these sexy beast. In some colors it suits well, but white it doesn't look appealing IMHO
here you can judge for yourself...
i think the cheapest way to go with out have the emblem in the molding would be to buy the molding kit from DDM, then purchase from EAC [Door Moulding Front ShadowLine/M Sport(Black)]
I got my bumper mouldings. I have yet to put them on my car (still waiting on my bumpers to come back from painter). I don't know what to do w/ the m5 emblems, they have been replaced with...
I like these better since after all i am going with AC style aero kit (cf splitter, cf spoiler & cf roof spoiler)
ya, i agree it would not be the way i want to go, and i am sure I would be dissapointed I didn't do it right, although doing something different as everyone else (in a tasteful way) never stopped me before. But being the M front bumper is on order, I want to keep it white and Black and as true to form as possible with the only Chrome shining off my refinished style 42's. The M moldings and a Black M front grill is on order from DDM, I will worry about the rear bumper molding when i get to it. Rims get refinished this Monday and Tuesday. M front bumper w/ HID fogs, removal of 15 dings and dents, respray of rear bumper, new mouldings, complete detail and front grill will be done from Wednesday on. I will have to figure out a way for removing the chrome from the rear molding or replacing it with Black molding from the shop cut to spec.
black and white is a perfect combo. It's subtle and elegant at the same time. I plan on adding some color like powdercoating my rims and keeping the amber side markers, head light reflectors and indicators. definitely not everyone taste, but when it comes down to it i have to ultimately please myself.
and thats the key, it's a taste you are comfortable with, and them little subtle touches to make it somewhat different from the rest as long as the true style is maintained. I'm sure it will look great, post some pics when done.....man my wife thinks I'm nuts, I've been bitten bad by the bug., sort of a mid life flashback to my younger days of long hair ripped jeans and Iron Maiden (which i still listen too often)
thx for the links pharo, I have already ordered the moldings from DDM and will not color match. Will these all black rear molding strips from EAC definately fit our model year without any modifications? will their be any gap from where the chrome strip once was on the removed moldings? this would be sweet if they are direct fitment without the chrome strip, Jared from EAC, can you confirm....thanks.
Thanks Jared, I ordered the black trim molding( L,R,C )for the rear bumper from you on tuesday, received the confirmation email from you....looking forward to next week and getting everything done.
Bringing this old thread back, might've found something that seems doable for the ///M emblem without getting a whole new molding piece. It's not exactly an oem look but its atleast uncomplicated. This is the ebay link:
It looks like the type of M logos that are put onto wheels, but its longer in shape. It doesnt have as flat of a surface as the oem badge and is on the shiny side. Not sure how well that would flow aesthetically.
Any thoughts?
Under 10 bucks i might try it out anyway
